Another completed Christmas Secret

Here is another large suncatcher.  This is for
another sweet lady friend of ours.
It's tatted in Yarnplayer's HDT size 40 Raspberry
Sorbet.
It's another one of a kind. With large glass beads.
Here is a close up of the center.
Funny thing is that I bought this gorgeous thread
not knowing what I was going to do with it, but
I just had to have it.  2 weeks later I found out
pink is our friend's favorite color and I knew
immediately what it was going to be used for!!
Happy tatting everyone!!!
And Merry Christmas!!!  :)

Finally another update for you!!!

Well, I finished another round on the next large suncatcher.
It is inspired by the final round of the Renulek Spring 2016
Spring Doily.
All I have to do is figure out how I am joining it to
the ring and I will have a finished project.  Oh,
I have already sewn in the ends since the pictures.
Happy tatting!!!  :)

Got a chance to finish the row!!

My hubby had to work tonight so I got a chance
to finish this row.
It's night out so I had to use the flash on my
camera and the zoom, but I love how it shows
the detail of the doily!!  :)
Happy tatting!!
Hope you are getting your holiday items finished!!  :)

A little more progress(blocking) on large tatted suncatcher

Here's some pictures to show the
design now that it is being blocked.
The color of the thread darkened while wet, but
I think when it's dry it will match the beads again.
I like the design, but wish it had more space and
didn't have to be stretched to death to get it "open".
I probably have 2 more rounds to fit the ring.
Happy tatting everyone!!!  :)

I am still trying to get progress accomplished on these!!!

Made some progress tonight while hubby had a
job outside of the house for a little while.
I was hoping to have this round done, but I just
can't stay up any later(it's almost midnight here).
This is the Mystery Doily for those who don't know.
And this project is taking forever due to me having
to design it.  At least this one can sit out and be
tatted in front of hubby without problems of him
claiming it-since he knows it's a Christmas gift!
It will be a large suncatcher when done(when!).
I believe it will take some blocking as the other
one did, before it will gone on after this round.
Happy tatting and have a great day!!!  :)

Pink Sorbet Large Suncatcher

I have continued working on this large suncatcher,
but I am realizing that for me designing takes lots
of time and thinking, some drawing, and some cutting.
I love this round!!!  It's not what I was originally
thinking, but it's so "cute".  :)
 Here's a close-up.  :)
Having to wait till next week to continue due to
a granddaughter invasion, and preparation for it.
Have a fabulous tatting time!!!  :)

Next Christmas Secret in progress.

Here's the start.
I am using Yarnplayer's new HDT Raspberry Sorbet.
And the beads with the pink are heavy glass, and
the clear beads are shaped like roses and seem to be
glass.  I am now working on what's next in the tatting
of the next round.
 Here's a close-up.
Happy tatting and have a wonderful weekend!!!  :)

Christmas Secret Large Tatted Suncatcher!

Well, lots of trials and errors in trying to design
the outer round to join to the ring,  but it's done!
Here is the scrap pile.
Here is the pile of drawings of the designs, and
the scraps and needed items.
 And here it is blocked.
Here it is in a window.
The glow from the beads is awesome!!!
 A "brighter" view.
Hanging on a cream colored wall to show the flower
at the top of the hanger.  :)
Now it gets wrapped for Christmas!!!
It's not as tight as I would prefer it, but I
am still happy with it!!  :)

Finally a chance to continue working

At least till 3am while hubby is out on a temp
job.
This is taking a long time and I haven't had time
to work on it while he has been here every day.
I am hoping to make more progress yet tonight,
but that will depend on if my concentration and
eyes hold out that long.
Again, this is the Mystery Doily by Patty Dowden
pattern here:
Have a wonderful night!!  :)

I pinned the design out just to see

If I tat the next round correctly I hope the suncatcher
will look like this to give more space to it!!  :)
Happy tatting!!  :)

Redesign done

Well, my redesign worked(for me anyway).
Now, all I have to do is figure out how to
design the next round and join it to the
ring.....working on that!!  :)
Happy tatting!!  :)

Working on the suncatcher gift

I started thinking this design in the other with
picots on the long chains toward the ring so that I could
join the tatting to the ring, but then I decided I really
liked it better in this direction and started tatting along.
Well....just so you know, it's no longer being tatted.  I
forgot to clearly think through these very heavy glass
beads and what gravity does.  So...they look fabulous
when at the top, but! at the sides they sag, and at the
bottom they flop out to the front or the back.
So....I cut it out and will think it over again.
But...when I cut the design off the beads it curled
some and gave me a design I like and hope to use
somewhere else.  :)
Happy tatting!!!  :)

More work accomplished!!

Well, I have that next round done and the flowers
attached.  Now to figure out the next round and
more heavy glass beads!  :)

Happy tatting!!!
Hope you are getting your Christmas tatting in!  :)

Some progress....and thinking.....

Finally made progress on the Mystery Doily again!
But, it has already been put away cuz' someone is on
his way home.  I sure hope to get this done in time
for Christmas!!!
And, I am thinking more flowers for the next round
and then more glass ovals for the final round, but
I am learning that it's hard to decide what to do next!!
**the colors are showing up better today!!
Happy tatting and have a wonderful day!!!  :)

Side tracked to another Christmas Secret

Ok.....The Mystery Doily for my hubby has been on
hold.  I will try to work on it tonight and some
tomorrow, but I have to be careful cuz' he could
come home any time(frustrating).
So....I have this gift for my best friend, Doris.  It
is a one of a kind large suncatcher.  The brass type
ring is 8 inches across.  The center flower type
bead is acrylic and it's orange.  The oval type
beads are a darker orange and they are heavy
glass beads.  The thread is size 20 Lizbeth
Falling Leaves.
I tatted this center part yesterday.
 Here is a close-up.
And I just finished tatting the second round today.
These two sections were inspired by Mary Konior's
Carnival motif in Tatting with Visual Patterns.
And here is a close-up.  This is a total challenge
to tat with such heavy beads and floppiness(new
word).  The center flower bead actually is free to
rotate in the center(except when the tatting gets
in the way.  It will not lie flat due to the thickness
of the oval glass beads, but I don't think that will
matter when stretched and attached to the ring.
Well, I guess I had better try to make more progress
on that doily, there's only 167 days left till Christmas!
Happy tatting everyone!!!  :)

Still trying to get to work on this!!!

Mystery doily round 2 done!!!  FINALLY!!!
It's been almost a month since I have gotten
to work on this.  I absolutely love it....
except for my "fix" of the center, so maybe
there will be a change sometime.
It's 5 inches across.
I have several other tatted Christmas gift ideas
hoping to achieve those, but they won't have to
hide from hubby.  :)  So happy about that!!!  :)

Progress happening again

Very slow progress, but progress!!!
Today as soon as I was sure my hubby wasn't
coming back for awhile I got this out and got
to work!!!  I now have what looks like half of
this second round done.  It takes so long due
to all the constant twists and turns.
I am loving the colors
and the fact that the solid isn't really noticeable.
I really want this gorgeous HDT from Yarnplayer
to shine in this doily!!!  :)  Oh, it's Lilac Sea for
those who don't know.
I am hoping for more time in the next 2 days,
but part of tomorrow will be work on my 2016
Renulek Spring doily while waiting at a doctor's
office for a friend.
Have a wonderful day!!  :)

A little progress is better than nothing!

I have figured out this doily NEEDS and
demands my full attention.  I have had to
un-tat several times and I am tired of it
already, but I am sure there is more to
come.  I made a join from the top first
section to the top second section, which
I wasn't supposed to join, but.... I
really need to leave it so I don't have to
waste any of this beautiful HDT!!!
I think it will be ok.
At this point there is a lot of ruffling,
but I believe it's due to tatting in an
"S" shape.  I think it will be wonderful
when finished-which is a long way off!!!
Have a great day!!!  Thanks for
following these Christmas gift tattings!!! :)

First Christmas present ready for wrapping!! :)

Here it is after blocking.
First picture is on the center of our couch.
Next, is on the end of our kitchen table.
 Last, is mostly doily.
This is the Hostess Set: Centerpiece from
Tatting Patterns by Mary Konior.
It's about 20 inches across.
Tatted in size 10 Lizbeth Turquoise Twist.
It's a Christmas present for my in-laws.
Hope you get your Christmas tatting done!!  :)
Trying to work on the next doily, but a headache
is preventing me at the moment, and I know
that doily needs complete attention!!!  :)

Start of next Christmas secret

This may look familiar to some, but the
center will confuse them.
This is the Mystery Doily by Patty Dowden
pattern here:
And my inspiration here:
I started and got to the second repeat when I realized
that I should have highlighted the spot in
the directions that say I should have started
with the last ring of the top 6, but I thought,
oh well, I will have to figure out the final
joins.......until, I realized that I messed up the
second "S" chain and would have to untat
6 small rings on top, then an "S" chain,
and then 4 more small rings just to get
to the mistake(NO THANKS!!!).
So...I started again, but 5 repeats in
I realize that I missed the fact of joining
the center rings properly.  Since I only have
limited amount of the hand dyed thread
size 40 Yarnplayer's Lilac Sea
I decided  not to start again, but to join
the center by chains of 2ds each.
When blocked it should look ok.
The complimenting color is
size 40 Lizbeth Lilac Med.
This now has to go into hiding, and I have to get
housework finished.
Have a wonderful day and hopefully
lots of tatting too!!!  :)

A messed up start on the new Christmas gift

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the colors!!!!!
I have since restarted and am doing better.  I
am writing out the directions because the
diagrams in this one confuse me.
Hopefully I will have the center done this week!  :)
Have a wonderful day!!!  :)

In blocking mode!

Well....I finished the tatting and made it to blocking!
I wasn't crazy about how it looked while tatting it all
in the variegated, but...I love the look from here-
although, it is wet which makes the colors darker!!  :)
I used almost every one of the straight pins I have,
and...if I would allow my perfectionist side to take over
I would have to buy another box of pins, cuz' I only
pinned what what necessary to make it look nice!
I will post another picture when it's dry!  :)
Oh, and I will give all the info. on pattern & thread
then too!
Have a fabulous day!!!
Hoping to start the next Christmas secret today!!

New Blog for special purpose

Ok, having my hubby love my tatting it great,
EXCEPT when I want to tat things for him
and I know he has saved my blog address
and shows it to others from time to time.
Well, this week was a great example of that
which left me cringing and hoping he didn't see this.
He hasn't said anything, but I know he can be a bit
sneaky and it will come out at some point if he has seen it.
So.....I decided this was smarter so that I could show all
tatted Christmas presents and then I don't have to
wait till everyone gets them and try to remember to
show them in the new year!!!
Plus, I have a doily I am wanting to tat specifically for my
hubby for Christmas, and I definitely don't want him
to see if beforehand!!!
So....if you will all bear with me, this was my best option
for all other tatted Christmas gifts from now on!!!  :)
Have a wonderful day!!
