Another completed Christmas Secret

Here is another large suncatcher.  This is for
another sweet lady friend of ours.
It's tatted in Yarnplayer's HDT size 40 Raspberry
Sorbet.
It's another one of a kind. With large glass beads.
Here is a close up of the center.
Funny thing is that I bought this gorgeous thread
not knowing what I was going to do with it, but
I just had to have it.  2 weeks later I found out
pink is our friend's favorite color and I knew
immediately what it was going to be used for!!
Happy tatting everyone!!!
And Merry Christmas!!!  :)

Finally another update for you!!!

Well, I finished another round on the next large suncatcher.
It is inspired by the final round of the Renulek Spring 2016
Spring Doily.
All I have to do is figure out how I am joining it to
the ring and I will have a finished project.  Oh,
I have already sewn in the ends since the pictures.
Happy tatting!!!  :)

A little more progress(blocking) on large tatted suncatcher

Here's some pictures to show the
design now that it is being blocked.
The color of the thread darkened while wet, but
I think when it's dry it will match the beads again.
I like the design, but wish it had more space and
didn't have to be stretched to death to get it "open".
I probably have 2 more rounds to fit the ring.
Happy tatting everyone!!!  :)

Pink Sorbet Large Suncatcher

I have continued working on this large suncatcher,
but I am realizing that for me designing takes lots
of time and thinking, some drawing, and some cutting.
I love this round!!!  It's not what I was originally
thinking, but it's so "cute".  :)
 Here's a close-up.  :)
Having to wait till next week to continue due to
a granddaughter invasion, and preparation for it.
Have a fabulous tatting time!!!  :)

Next Christmas Secret in progress.

Here's the start.
I am using Yarnplayer's new HDT Raspberry Sorbet.
And the beads with the pink are heavy glass, and
the clear beads are shaped like roses and seem to be
glass.  I am now working on what's next in the tatting
of the next round.
 Here's a close-up.
Happy tatting and have a wonderful weekend!!!  :)

Christmas Secret Large Tatted Suncatcher!

Well, lots of trials and errors in trying to design
the outer round to join to the ring,  but it's done!
Here is the scrap pile.
Here is the pile of drawings of the designs, and
the scraps and needed items.
 And here it is blocked.
Here it is in a window.
The glow from the beads is awesome!!!
 A "brighter" view.
Hanging on a cream colored wall to show the flower
at the top of the hanger.  :)
Now it gets wrapped for Christmas!!!
It's not as tight as I would prefer it, but I
am still happy with it!!  :)

I pinned the design out just to see

If I tat the next round correctly I hope the suncatcher
will look like this to give more space to it!!  :)
Happy tatting!!  :)

Redesign done

Well, my redesign worked(for me anyway).
Now, all I have to do is figure out how to
design the next round and join it to the
ring.....working on that!!  :)
Happy tatting!!  :)

Working on the suncatcher gift

I started thinking this design in the other with
picots on the long chains toward the ring so that I could
join the tatting to the ring, but then I decided I really
liked it better in this direction and started tatting along.
Well....just so you know, it's no longer being tatted.  I
forgot to clearly think through these very heavy glass
beads and what gravity does.  So...they look fabulous
when at the top, but! at the sides they sag, and at the
bottom they flop out to the front or the back.
So....I cut it out and will think it over again.
But...when I cut the design off the beads it curled
some and gave me a design I like and hope to use
somewhere else.  :)
Happy tatting!!!  :)

more heavy glass beads!  :)

Happy tatting!!!
Hope you are getting your Christmas tatting in!  :)

Some progress....and thinking.....

Finally made progress on the Mystery Doily again!
But, it has already been put away cuz' someone is on
his way home.  I sure hope to get this done in time
for Christmas!!!
And, I am thinking more flowers for the next round
and then more glass ovals for the final round, but
I am learning that it's hard to decide what to do next!!
**the colors are showing up better today!!
Happy tatting and have a wonderful day!!!  :)

Side tracked to another Christmas Secret

Ok.....The Mystery Doily for my hubby has been on
hold.  I will try to work on it tonight and some
tomorrow, but I have to be careful cuz' he could
come home any time(frustrating).
So....I have this gift for my best friend, Doris.  It
is a one of a kind large suncatcher.  The brass type
ring is 8 inches across.  The center flower type
bead is acrylic and it's orange.  The oval type
beads are a darker orange and they are heavy
glass beads.  The thread is size 20 Lizbeth
Falling Leaves.
I tatted this center part yesterday.
 Here is a close-up.
And I just finished tatting the second round today.
These two sections were inspired by Mary Konior's
Carnival motif in Tatting with Visual Patterns.
And here is a close-up.  This is a total challenge
to tat with such heavy beads and floppiness(new
word).  The center flower bead actually is free to
rotate in the center(except when the tatting gets
in the way.  It will not lie flat due to the thickness
of the oval glass beads, but I don't think that will
matter when stretched and attached to the ring.
Well, I guess I had better try to make more progress
on that doily, there's only 167 days left till Christmas!
Happy tatting everyone!!!  :)
